Skybound Entertainment, yesterday made an official announcement regarding the future of Overkill's The Walking Dead. The company owns the rights to The Walking Dead franchise, stated that they have terminated their contract with Starbreeze Studios, meaning A full stop to Overkill's The Walking Dead.

Sally Jacka, author at Skybound Entertainment posted an update on 26th February stating- "As of today, we have terminated our contract with Starbreeze Studios and will discontinue all efforts on Overkill's The Walking Dead. Our creators and their stories are the core of Skybound, and since 2014 we have worked hard to expand the world of The Walking Dead into an exceptional Co-op Action FPS. We did our best to work with Starbreeze and resolve many issues that we saw with the game, but ultimately Overkill's The Walking Dead did not meet our standards nor is it the quality that we were promised."

Further, "We are exceedingly sorry to our fans and share their disappointment in the game. We remain dedicated to providing our fans with the most premium quality content we can offer, and will continue to look for alternative video game options for the IP."

The game came out for PC at the end of 2018, and the console release was planned for earlier this month. But, the situation appeared to take a turn earlier this month when the planned console versions were suspended. Reported earlier in January, Starbreeze, who were already in a $45 million debt confirmed that they would be postponing the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 release of Overkill's The Walking Dead and that the game would no longer launch in February.

However, Skybound Games already have their plans to say goodbye & seal the game with the release of the final season of The Walking Dead on March 26, as they confirmed on their twitter page.
