It's not even a month that we got the news that Switch has surpassed the PS4 Basic & Slim combined sales in Japan. Yet another news came from NPD which took gaming industries into shock.

According to the December 2018 NPD report, it shows Nintendo Switch overtook PlayStation 4 and Xbox One by becoming the best-selling gaming console of 2018 in the United States.

Ever since the PS4 broke the previous record in 2015, Nintendo Switch has now achieved the highest annual sales for both -  the units sold & in dollars, separately. The previous reports provided by NPD showed PS4 as the best-selling console of 2018, but in November Nintendo beat it out for a single month. Probably it's the Switch’s holiday success that got Santa's hand and it became the best selling console in the U.S for 2018, surpassing PS4. Talking about the dollars, The Switch also notably earned the highest hardware dollar sales for a single platform in December.

Nintendo also Doubled it's production in the market, after completing the 1st year out there. In 2018, hardware spending was up to 8 % across the board, reaching $5.1 billion. All the major gaming consoles saw year-on-year growth in overall sales including Switch, PS4 & Xbox One.

In October 2018, Nintendo announced Switch had sold over 22 million units. At that time, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild had sold nearly 10.3 million units, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe surpassed 11 million units and Super Mario Odyssey flew past 12 million units.full-width

Many top titles are planned to be released in 2019 by both PS4 and Nintendo Switch which will definitely shuffle these reports. But for now, it looks like Nintendo is going all the way up and becoming one of the favorites by many people out there. We'll see what happens in the coming days.
